Valentine’s Day is one of the rare opportunities to celebrate what is pure and magical in our lives. Take the time to plan a day, or evening, or gift in a way that’s meaningful to you and your partner. You might want to write them an adorable note, or buy them that long awaited gift. Or you could greet them at the door to your Alexandria apartment with a bubbly drink in each hand.

Cranberry Kir Royale

This distinctively named drink was created by chef Tyler Florence. Cranberries, orange juice and zest, and a little sugar make a delicious syrup. Once it’s strained and cooled, you can pour it into the bottom of two champagne glasses and pour in bubbly to match. Add a few frozen cranberries as a beautiful and tart garnish.

Lava Flow Mocktail

For those who don’t wish to imbibe, this alcohol-free alternative is perfect for Valentine’s Day. Raspberries, maple syrup, whole milk, and greek yogurt are combined to create a creamy smooth base. Rim the glasses and coat a few frozen raspberries with bright red sanding sugar. Pour the mix, then top with whipped cream and garnish. Delish.

Ruby Tuesday Cocktail

This cocktail (named after the Rolling Stones song, not the restaurant) offers a sophisticated flavor palette to cut through some of that Valentine’s sweetness. Rye whiskey, herbal Benedictine, lemon juice, and simple syrup make up the base. Muddle fresh cherries, pour in the base, and garnish with a lemon twist.

Manhattan with a Cherry

Nothing beats a classic. Add a juicy, red cherry to make this traditional drink a dash more festive. For even more cherry flavor, consider adding Luxardo maraschino liqueur and maraschino cherry juice. And just like our Lava Flow Mocktail, you can adorn your glasses with sanding sugar, using cherry juice to wet the rim.

The Lady Killer

It’s a bold title for what’s actually a pretty light but devastatingly delicious drink. Dry gin, Cointreau, and apricot brandy represent the alcoholic flavors. Then, add passion fruit juice and pineapple juice in equal amounts to taste. This cocktail is best when shaken with ice, and you can add another layer of texture with some crushed ice at the top.

Your Alexandria apartment will be a veritable speakeasy with these clever recipes. It’s an entirely new level on the plush features and amenities that make your place home and vacation at the same time. Take a tour today and see how we create these intimate oases of urban living.
