There’s Still Some Time for Summertime!

August 30, 2017

ROSS’ apartments in Silver Spring put you in the heart of Downtown Silver Spring’s late summer line-up of great things to do.

Ahhh, it seems like only yesterday that The Beach Boys (ask your parents) were singing “We’ve been having fun all summer long.” If you feel the same way about your summer, you’re probably sorry to see it go and right now you’re sitting on your couch sighing and thinking there’s nothing to do, right? Well, ROSS’ apartments in Silver Spring, MD, have some news that’s gonna have you slipping into your sandals and heading out the door: SUMMER’S SIZZLING ON IN DOWNTOWN SILVER SPRING!

Thanks to a smokin’ hot menu of events and activities like these…

Fridays, 8 p.m., through Sept. 1, Veterans Plaza, corner of Ellsworth and Fenton

Don’t bother with a blanket because you’ll be up and rockin’ to the summer’s last free cinemas. 8/25 it’s Jack Black at his wildest in “School of Rock”, followed by The Purple One himself on 9/1 in “Purple Rain”.

Tuesdays, 7 p.m., through Oct. 10, Fountain Plaza, 916 Ellsworth Dr.

FREE classes instructed by Washington Sports Club through 9/26 and Ray and Roze, courtesy of Adventist HealthCare, 10/3 and 10/10. “Zumba takes the ‘work’ out of ‘workout’, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. [It’s] often called exercise in disguise.”

Wednesdays, 7 p.m., through Sept. 27, Fountain Plaza, 916 Ellsworth Dr.

“Join Grace Studios for FREE community yoga on the DTSS stage near the fountain every Wednesday from 7-7:45 p.m.! Bring a mat and water bottle and get ready to unwind with an all levels flow class.”

Saturday, Sept. 9, 3 – 10 p.m., Veterans Plaza, corner of Ellsworth and Fenton

“The Silver Spring Jazz Festival features an explosive mix of jazz, rock, classical, jam band influences and Afro Cuban and world rhythms by the Lao Tizer Band, the cool stylings of Marcus Johnson, Afro-Caribbean percussion by Chembo & Grupo Chaworó, the Gospel influenced Sharp Radway Quintet, and the amazing youth talent of the Jazz Academy of Music led by Paul Carr.”

Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., through Dec. 30, Ellsworth Dr. between Fenton St. and Georgia Ave.

“At this market you’ll find goats’ milk cheeses, tree and field fruit, vegetables, honey, eggs, meat, pies, preserves, salsas, cut flowers, breads, pastries and more!”

OPEN MIC NIGHT at Potbelly

1st Friday of every month, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., through Dec. 8, 917 Ellsworth Dr.
