First Night Alexandria
DC’s most family friendly New Year’s Eve party is around the corner again! The festivities will begin at 2 p.m. with outdoor entertainment. Over the course of the night, you can choose from more than 100 performances in 25 different indoor venues. Head to the Kids Karnival from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for face painting, carnival-style games and a kid-sized countdown. Once the sun sets, join the main party at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Be amazed by magician Mike Rose, dance with DJ Good Times, and enjoy stand-up comedy and spoken word poetry in the variety showcase starting at 8 p.m. The night will culminate with a scenic view of the fireworks over the Potomac River at midnight. This event is alcohol free.

New Year’s Eve 80’s Rewind
This party is for those who wax nostalgic. American singer-songwriter Tiffany will appear as the special guest, performing classics such as, “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Could’ve Been.” Jam out with 80s cover band The Reflex and shred the dance floor to DJ Shelley’s tunes while enjoying some righteous décor. Black lights, neon glow tape, and 80s-style furniture transform the theater into a retro paradise. Visit one of four open bars for drinks and popular 80s snacks like pretzel bites and sliders. VIP suites are available for purchase.
The Theater at MGM National Harbor | 10:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. | Tickets start at $117
New Year’s on the Water
Waterfront restaurant Café 44 is hosting another New Year’s Eve party! With its orange and gold décor, crisp white furniture, and clear view of the Potomac, this venue is ideal for ringing in the 2019. Watch the ball drop on a live stream, make a Champagne toast, and relax as you enjoy the reflection of fireworks on the water. To top it off, the menu this year might be better than ever before. Relish ten different small bite options. Have up to two glasses of wine, beer, or craft cocktails (plus Champagne to toast) compliments of the house. And, last but not least, choose from four decadent desserts. Dress code: To the nines!
Café 44 | 9 p.m.-1 a.m. | Tickets start at $125
Eat ‘Til The Ball Drops
Dogfish Head is hosting a food-focused New Year’s Eve event this year. If you’d rather sit down with a cold beer than go dancing at a club, this is for you. Enjoy a five-course meal and accompanying beer parings. Live music from Mercy Rising will provide the right atmosphere. End 2018 right with a Champagne toast at midnight.
Dogfish Head | 5:30 p.m.-1 a.m. | Tickets are $70 (5:30pm seating) or $85 (9pm seating)
The Light Horse New Year’s Eve Party
Choose from a wide variety of food and taste from The Light Horse’s extensive tap menu as you mingle at this local sports pub. Live music from Broken Ground will set the mood for this neighborhood celebration.
