ROSS Delivers Gift Baskets, Assists Military Families Through Fisher House
June 17, 2015
Keeping pace in a competitive Washington, D.C. market is an intense day-to-day process of strategizing, modifying and implementing original ideas and concepts to lease apartment homes and generate revenue. But sometimes it’s important to take a step back from the competition.
On June 2, ROSS Companies delivered 72 gift baskets to residents of Fisher House, which provides housing for the families of sick and injured military veterans. Fisher House relies on companies such as ROSS Companies for donations to ease the burden for families when their loved ones are receiving treatment.
The gift baskets, put together by the children of ROSS Companies associates during bring-your- child-to-work day, included travel-size essentials, hard candies, a Dunkin Donuts gift card and additional necessities.
“We are committed to helping the military families who have sacrificed so much for our country, and having the kids involved gave the gift baskets a special touch,” said Terry Brewer, vice president of human resources for ROSS Companies. “Fisher House is an organization that reminds us of how important it is to take care of the people who serve our country, even through activities that seem small on the surface but can make a big difference in their lives and the lives of their family members.”
The donation was one of many activities ROSS Companies has completed or plans to complete for Fisher Houses throughout the region. ROSS Companies collected a large number of donations through a household-items drive in April, and ROSS Renovation and Construction donated additional household items in May.
ROSS Companies has plans to give more of the company’s time and resources to the organization throughout the remainder of 2015, including a scheduled cookout at the Bethesda Fisher House on July 1. ROSS Companies also is planning a summer cleanup at Fisher House on July 23, which will include power washing porches and banisters, trimming bushes and applying touch-up paint to Fisher House No. 5.
