This festival is a self-described “four days of music, art, and technology”. If you’re looking for an immersive, inclusive summer concert experience – this is the one. From a center of the tobacco industry to a tech giant, Research Triangle has revolutionized itself over and over. And it’s doing it again in the music scene. The venue is just a 2.5-hour drive from the Hampstead college apartments in Richmond, VA. A small price to pay for pure art.

The Governor’s Ball Music Festival is not as austere as it sounds. Against the backdrop of beautiful Randall’s Island, NY, popular artists in every genre will make an appearance. A huge variety of activities will be available for breaks between the music, from mini-golf to the Got2be Braid Bar. Although it’s almost hours of travel time to this locale from Pleasant Hills college apartments in Washington, DC, you can get a bus ticket for less than $20.

Also hosted on Randall’s Island, Panorama is later in the summer and has several perks. Food is brought in from some of NYC’s finest restaurants, and there will be a special open-air exhibit on New York’s contribution to the modern DJ culture.

The Woodlands offers a supremely natural experience, which is why students flock from their college apartments to this destination every summer. Dover, Delaware, is just a two-hour drive east from Washington, DC. Buses run twice a day between the cities, with an average price of $32.
