A Labor Day of Love
August 28, 2017
ROSS’ off-base apartments are right on target for a great Labor Day weekend.
At ROSS, when we think of Labor Day, we think of the brave men and women of the U.S. military – people like you – who serve our country 24/7/365 and how much we appreciate the job you do. So, it’s in your honor that ROSS offers off-base apartments with military discounts – and it’s for your enjoyment that we present a sampling of TripSavvy’s guide to the many family-friendly activities to be found in the DC metropolitan area over the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
Sunday, Sept. 3, 8 p.m., West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building, Washington, DC
Enjoy a FREE CONCERT by the world-famous National Symphony Orchestra.
Saturday, Sept. 2, 1-8 p.m., 1609 Washington Plaza N., Reston, VA
For a delightfully different musical interlude, this FREE, family-friendly event will showcase a variety of talented local emerging artists and national jazz performers.
Weekends, August 26 through October 22 (which includes Labor Day), 1821 Crownsville Rd., Annapolis, MD
The whole family will marvel over the 16th century English village with crafts, food, live performances, games and lots more. And if you need any more incentive to hone your medieval skills, remember: Winter is coming…
Sept. 2-4, 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo, MD
Visit the Labor Day Art Show in the Spanish Ballroom, 12-6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The event will also include a wide variety of Irish musicians and dancers performing toe-tapping Irish dancing to beautiful Irish folk songs in Glen Echo Park’s Bumper Car Pavilion.
Monday, Sept. 4, 1 p.m., Summit and Diamond Avenues, Gaithersburg, MD
If it just wouldn’t be Labor Day without a parade, here’s a dandy! Join in the fun and watch fire engines, high school marching bands, clowns, horses and giant balloons fill the streets of Olde Town Gaithersburg.
Sept. 2-4, Greenbelt Community Center, 15 Crescent Rd., Greenbelt, MD
Bring the kids to a festival with carnival rides, games, a petting zoo, art exhibits, athletic tournaments, the Miss Greenbelt pageant and live entertainment.
Sept. 2-3, Great Meadow, 5089 Old Tavern Rd., The Plains, VA
Come celebrate Alexandria’s Scottish heritage and enjoy piping and drumming, highland dancing and fiddling competitions, sheep-herding demonstrations, an antique car show, children’s activities and much more.
In closing, we offer one more suggestion: make Labor Day your lucky day by taking a moment to check out the many advantages of living in ROSS’ off-base apartments. When the holiday’s over, you’ll find it’s the perfect place to rest…after the parade.
