Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day Like a True Irishman
March 9, 2016
We’re sure that the residents of ROSS’ housing for college students have their favorite Irish pub they plan to head right over to this St. Patrick’s Day. For some, the pub is filled with memories of past celebrations; for others, it’s been on their radar for some time now and they’ve been saving this St. Patrick’s Day as the perfect time to try it out.
On the downside, since flocking to your local Irish pub to enjoy copious amounts of Guinness and green beer has become a wildly popular St. Patrick’s Day pastime, bars on March 17 can be overcrowded (flagrant understatement), turning your evening into time spent waiting in a sequence of never-ending lines.
If enjoying your time with friends sounds better than spending it waiting in line for the bathroom, then here are a few great alternative St. Patrick’s Day plans you can enjoy in the DC area!
Washington, DC, St. Patrick’s Day Parade
“The 45th Annual St. Patrick’s Parade of Washington, D.C. will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 beginning at 12:00 noon, and will proceed down Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets, N.W. Over 100 marching bands, military units, dance schools, floats and a variety of other groups and organizations participate in the St. Patrick’s Parade of Washington DC each year.”
2016 Alexandria, Virginia, Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
“Alexandria, Virginia celebrates Saint Patrick’s Day with a day of family fun events, including a classic car show, a dog show and a Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.”
“ShamrockFest is America’s largest St. Paddy’s Day festival, where thousands come to rock their shamrocks off to widely-hailed bands of Celtic and Alternative rock. Don’t miss the party on March 12, 2016 at RFK Stadium Festival Grounds.”
We haven’t forgotten about the residents of ROSS’ college apartments in Richmond!
The Irish Festival
“In addition to great entertainment, there will be plenty of family fun, including children’s games, face painting and Irish-themed crafts. Over thirty Irish vendors will be in attendance! Food and refreshments will also be available. Enjoy wonderful “Irish Lasagna” prepared by the Ladies of St. Patrick’s, “Fish and Chips” and other favorites provided by Rare Olde Times Irish Pub, Rosie Connolly’s and many more.”
This St. Patrick’s Day, ditch the same ol’ watering hole and broaden your horizons at one of these great celebrations. While the spirit moves you, ditch your same ol’ apartment, too, and raise a glass to a community that will make every day your lucky day. Here’s to you – taking a tour of ROSS’ housing for college students! (Top of the morning would be a good time to start.)
