ROSS affordable apartments make the outdoors accessible.
Spring is the best time to try out a rugged new trail. It’s not too hot or too cold. A gentle breeze keeps your brow cool and the sun shines down over the landscape. Even better, you don’t have to stray far from ROSS’ affordable apartments to discover your new favorite hiking spot. There are great outdoor spaces near each of our affordable apartments in the DMV – and beyond.
Virginia is known for its pristine outdoor spaces and mountainous terrain. It’s no wonder that the state is full of hiking trails. Whether you’re looking for a long, grassy stroll or a challenging uphill climb, you’ll find it. First up is the Petersburg National Battlefield. Historically, it was the site of the longest military event of the Civil War. Today, it offers 18 miles of beautiful, natural trails. Almost as close is the Colonial Heights-Appomattox River Trail, which follows the water to the east and west of Richmond for a total of 10 miles. Last but not least, there’s Pocahontas State Park. It’s a 30-minute drive northeast of the Clearfield affordable apartments, but it’s well worth the trip. At this park, you’ll find over 64 miles of trails, a fantastic water park and seasonal activities like fishing, boating and camping.
Falls Church, VA
Near the Grandview affordable apartments in Falls Church, there’s the small but scenic Benjamin Banneker Park. The 11-acre green space has a pleasant picnic area, a babbling stream and, most importantly, access to several larger hiking areas! The Washington & Old Dominion Trail (which totals 45 miles) and Four Mile Run both connect to Benjamin Banneker.
