Festive Foods for This Fourth of July

Burgers and More
How do you grill the perfect burger? Famous chef and pro-burger flipper Bobby Flay says that it is all in the little things! For example, he suggests using your thumb to make an indentation in the center of each burger, preventing it from both expanding too much and shrinking up. In terms of side courses, there are an endless amount of options. Start simple with corn on the cob or grilled potatoes. If you want to dress it up, add a little cheddar cheese, bacon, ranch and chives; you can also set up a self-serve bar with all the fixings, so your guests can choose themselves!
Fourth of July Brie
Nothing says “Fourth of July” like red, white, and blue. Consider incorporating these colors into some of your dishes for an expected twist! This cheesy recipe is quick, simple, and involves minimal prep time. The ingredients that you’ll need are: a 35-ounce wheel of brie, six strawberries, one-half cup of blueberries, one-fourth freshly squeezed orange juice, two teaspoons of honey, and graham crackers for dipping.
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut off the top rind of the brie and bake until bubbly (about fifteen minutes). While the brie is in the oven, divide the strawberries and blueberries in separate medium bowls. Divide the orange juice and honey evenly, and coat both the strawberries and blueberries. When the brie comes out of the oven, arrange the fruit in an American flag pattern. This is a great way to get kids involved in setting up for the party. Don’t forget to serve it hot!
Can I Please Have S’more?
The best way to end any night of grilling is by satisfying that sweet tooth. There is no better way to do that than with a summer classic: the s’more. To add some holiday spirit into the mix, try preparing a July 4thsmore’s dip! All you need is four sheets of Hershey’s chocolate, nineteen marshmallows, one cup of water, one cup of red, white, and blue sanding sugar, and graham crackers, for serving.
Begin with preheating the oven to 450 degrees. In a square glass pan, place a layer of Hershey’s, covering the bottom of the pan. Then, dip five of the marshmallows in water and roll them in the blue sanding sugar. Next, place them on parchment paper to dry. Repeat this process again, this time making six red, and eight white marshmallows. Once dried, cut the marshmallows in half using kitchen shears. Arrange the marshmallows (cut side down) on top of the chocolate in an American flag pattern. Finally, bake for eight to ten minutes, and serve up the sweet masterpiece with some graham crackers!
