Fall Family Destinations Close to Your ROSS Apartment
October 16, 2017
We’ve rounded up some wonderful fall activities nearby your off-base apartment to enjoy with your family!
Summer has come and gone and the kids have been back in school for almost two months! That means fall is already flying by. Make the most of this beautiful time of year spending time with the family and checking out a few of these local activities not far from your ROSS off-base apartment.
Montpelier Farms in Upper Marlboro has a lot going on during the fall season. From familiar classics like pumpkin and apple picking, to nightly bonfires (complete with s’mores!) and an animal petting zoo, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Hop on a hayride, take your turn down the Giant Hill Slides and paint a pumpkin, for a perfect fall day at Montpelier.
If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, spend the day enjoying Patuxent River Park. Hike the trails, take in the autumn foliage and enjoy a family picnic by the river. A peaceful afternoon outdoors might be just what the family needs!
For those with little ones, take a trip into DC for their Boo at the Zoo event from October 20-22. The Smithsonian says, “Boo at the Zoo features more than 40 treat stations and after-hours access to exhibits, including the Small Mammal House, Reptile Discovery Center and Great Cats. Kids will love grooving to the music on the entertainment stage, featuring kids scary-oke. And don’t miss the extreme pumpkin-carving demonstrations!”
There’s so much fun to be had in the surrounding neighborhoods of your ROSS off-base apartment this fall! Check out our available listings in various locations and come on by for a tour before visiting the venues we’ve suggested and checking these activities off your family-fun list!
