College Park Day Celebration
October 2, 2018
Just one of the many engaging events in the neighborhood of your College Park apartments.
On October 6, from 12-6 p.m., the City of College Park is hosting a celebration of its history and legacy. Come to the College Park Aviation Museum for fun and free activities for children and adults! It’s just a few minutes’ drive from the University of Maryland’s campus and ROSS’ College Park apartments.
For the Kids
Face painting and arts and crafts offer some silly fun for your creative tykes. For those with endless energy, there will be obstacle courses, a climbing wall and a bounce house! Don’t forget to get a rare look into the city’s fire trucks and squad cars. Lastly, there will be music all day long: jazz, R&B, cumbia, rock, pop and more. Take a load off and listen to the music or get up on your feet and dance!
If you want to explore, you can visit the booths of College Park’s local non-profits, city government agencies and businesses, and learn more about their work. Keep an eye out for informative brochures and free swag, as well as unique items available only from our local community of craftspeople. Over 50 total vendors will be there, including 20 UMD clubs, departments and performers.
Stuff That’s Just Plain Cool
Along with free admission to the festival, the College Park Aviation Museum is providing free admission to their premises, including the new exhibit “Delivering America: Airmail to Email.” Visit the airfield to see real-life helicopters, and their working pilots and crews. And, of course, food and drink are available for purchase throughout the whole celebration: pizza, fish tacos, BBQ and hot dogs will be served, plus ice cream and shaved ice for dessert.
Come out to this unique festival and get some cool mementos to bring home to your College Park apartments. Visit our website to see what else is going on in the neighborhood or take a tour today to see for yourself.
